Travel & Tourism Industry Glossary  :  Airport Transfer

Also known as hotel transfer or airport shuttle.

An airport transfer is a regularly scheduled transportation service that takes passengers from a designated airport to a hotel or other prearranged destination.  The service may also provide a return service from a selected hotel or pick-up point to a designated airport.

Generally speaking these services are on a fixed schedule in order to allow enough time to pick-up passengers at hotels that are on a specific route.  Operators who provide airport transfer services use various sized passenger vans.

Although most airport transfer services can be booked once a passenger has arrived in destination, it is becoming more popular for passengers to book their airport transfer in advance in order to reduce stress once they have arrived.

Airport transfer services that use a tour operator software (such as Rezgo) also have the ability to manage their bookings through global resellers and OTAs like Expedia and Viator.
