You can now geotag your company and all of your tours and activities using Rezgo.com.  The GeoTagging, powered by Google Maps API, allows you to tag the location of your company and your tours on a map.  The longitude and latitude data is stored along with your company and product data and can be retrieved through the new Rezgo.com front-end and through the Rezgo XML API.  This feature is a big step forward for geo-locating or mapping your tours and for emerging location based services like delivering product information through a mobile device.  Imagine, for example, a traveler in your destination being able to do a search for all tours in their area and having the system return your product with a precise location.  Although the actual act of geo-tagging your product is simple, it has huge potential for future delivery of your products.

Here is a quick walk-through of how the Geotagging will work for your company profile:

Look for the Company Geo-Tag section in your Settings > Company Profile. If you have not yet added your Geo-Tag, this area will show a blank image and a question mark next to the Latitude and Longitude labels. Click on the Geo-Tag Company button to open the map.

Whe the map pop-up appears, you can Geo-Tag your company location by scrolling around the map and then clicking on a location. The map will try to guess where to start the map based on your current address and location information.

To add a Geo-Tag to a tour or activity, click on the Edit button on your tour detail page. Next, clickon the Location tab.  You should see something similar to the image above.  If there is no Geo-Tag, then the area will show no map thumbnail and a question mark on the Latitude and Longitude labels. Click on the Geo-Tag This Tour button to add a Geo-Tag to the tour.

A Google Map pop-up will appear giving you the option to pinpoint the location of your tour or activity.  If you have a start point and destination point for your tour, we recommend you geo-tag the one that adds the most value from a marketing standpoint.  For example, if you want the traveler to know the pick-up location of your tour, then geo-tag the pick-up location.  If your destination point is the most interesting point, then geo-tag the destination of your tour.  You can always change your geo-tag later.

Once your geo-tags are added, Google maps (like the example above) will appear on the detail pages of all your tours and activities.  These maps will also appear on distribution partner sites.

Look for the Geo-tag and other new features being rolled out in the upcoming release of Rezgo.com.
