We are very proud to announce that we have now integrated carbon offsetting into Rezgo. All members now have the ability to offer carbon offsetting to their customers. The program is managed through a partnership with Sustainable Travel Internation (STI) a non-profit organization whose mandate is to promote ecotourism, sustainable tourism and responsible travel, and help travelers and travel providers protect the cultures and environments they visit.
The carbon offsetting form is presented after a booking has been made. The form gives the traveler the option to offset their carbon emissions by donating to STI. Because of the variable nature of the tours provided by Rezgo members it was not possible to come up with a formula that would automatically calculate the carbon offset amount for each tour. For this reason, we provide each Rezgo member with the ability to set their own default contribution amount. By default, the contribution amount is set to $2.00 USD. When a traveler chooses to contribute to STI, then are forwarded to STI’s secure carbon contribution form to complete the process. It is important to note that neither Rezgo nor Rezgo members collect contributions on behalf of STI.
