Booking Server and Chambers of Commerce
We have recently started active marketing of the Booking Server with Chambers of Commerce around British Columbia. Many Chambers have asked us how the program works and I wanted to address that question here as well, so we would have a point of reference. The Sentias Booking Server Chamber Partner Program (SBSCPP) provides Chambers of Commerce with an additional revenue source without incurring undo administration or marketing costs. As an active Chamber of Commerce member, we recognized that there was a need to benefit Chambers while promoting the Booking Server.
The program is modeled after the Chamber Insurance Plan, which is a long running and very successful partnership program between the Chamber and an group insurance provider. The key difference is that we don’t expect Chambers to endorse or market the Booking Server for us or to be exclusive in any way. Our hope is that when tour operators and accommodations providers start using the system, they will recognize that it is a high quality product and provides good value for the subscription price.
When a Chamber signs up for the program, they are assigned a referral id. When a member signs up for the Booking Server through the Chamber they are flagged with the Chambers referral id. On the billing anniversary for each member that signs up with the Chamber referral id, a commission calucation is done and records the transaction in the Chambers account. On the last day of the proceeding calendar month (and if the commissions are greater than $100), a commission cheque is sent to the Chamber. Commission payments less than $100 are accrued until the following period.
So what is in it for the members? As an added benefit to Chamber members, the Chamber will get its own branded portal site which promotes the products and services of their referred members. Even though membership in a Chamber is not necessarily required to be Sentias Booking Server subscriber, it is required if they want to be listed and available on the Chamber’s portal.
